Mark Zuckerberg, the founder & CEO of facebook said today on its social media page that their Connectivity Lab is producing a laser communications system that can ray data from the sky into communities. This will radically increase the speed of sending data over the long distances.

The California-headquartered firm has been working on developing technology to use satellites and drones to supply the internet to people. In past, it has also approached the government of India shipping out the pilot project in the country.

The billionaire tech investor said that as a part of their Internet.org efforts, they are working on ways to use satellites and drones to bond with the billion of people who do not live in the range of existing wireless networks. Usually, we would not be able to observe the actual rays.

Facebook had started Internet.org in partnership with telecom players in select markets. Under this project people in developing countries, including India, can access some websites without paying for mobile internet charges.

Telecom operatives have been outraged against OTT players and claimed that their services are consuming their center proceeds, which is disadvantageous for setting up telecom communications that are necessary for supplying internet services.

Zuckerberg said that an alternate communication technology might help OTT players bypass traditional telecom operators. This is just one connectivity project on which they are working, but he was excited to share this with us.

Along with the internet.org, Mark Zuckerberg also highlighted the Virtual Reality and Artificial Intelligence as key future themes for the company.
