Toyota is going to launch new Prius. The new version of Prius petrol-electric hybrid will be released in Japan first and then in other countries. Currently, when falling gasoline prices are depleting the demand for eco-friendly cars, the Toyota Motor Corp is planning to sell this version at the end of the year.

Toyota is going to launch new Prius in the end of 2015

The new version of Prius will support smaller, lighter batteries and motors than the former versions of Prius. Toyota said that it would be 10% more fuel-efficient. Toyota did not say anything about the mileage of the car. For your information, the former models run at 51 miles per gallon.

The company also said about the ratio of work performed to energy consumed or thermal efficiency that it would be 40% up from the 38.5%.

Prius sales of August in the U.S. fell down 24% from the same month a year earlier to 17,757 cars. In the previous year, U.S. Prius total sale was 207,372 vehicles.

Some other vehicle manufacturers are regulating product launches as low-priced petrol obscures the sales position for environmental-friendly cars.

A Chevrolet spokesperson said that the General Motor Corporation would bind the sale of the next generation “Chevrolet Volt plug-in hybrid”, which was scheduled to launch in future months at California and some other states where hybrid and electric cars sell well.
