Amazon’s first ever transparency information is publicly now
Amazon first time released a transparency information which reports regarding the government data in response to the request, it will receives. It has been given a public access of information about how habitually their data given to the law enforcement agencies or judges.
This is an e-commerce company which runs worldwide as a major cloud infrastructure business at present. It never has been released any of the biannual transparency details earlier. It was despite the reality that they were regularly condemned for not doing so by the American Civil Liberties Union and also the Electronic Frontier Foundation as a digital rights advocacy group.
Transparency information generally publishes the number of times that a company is asked for the data on their customers like a subpoena or search warrant from the government organizations and also the number of times which they have observed with these requests. These details are the only way so that the public can linger inform after the Edward Snowden fiasco, contractor of NSA that showed the government storing and targeting the user data.
Amazon is a company with a reputation to protect its business information was somewhat late in joining major tech and telecommunication companies that are granting the same reports. For instance, Facebook has been sent its 1st biannual report in the month of August in 2013. Reddit united in January 2015. AT&T, Google, Verizon, Apple, and Yahoo have also published transparency information in the past.
Amazon’s Chief Information Security Officer, Stephen Schmidity said that Amazon is conscious about how important this is for them to save their customer’s data and confidentiality and they are also optimizing their work by which customers never have to face these issues.
It was declared on Friday by a spokesperson of Amazon that it was the first time Amazon has ever released information as this.
As per the information, Amazon received 813 subpoenas during the period of 1st Jan and 31st May of 2015 and they have already retorted completely to 542 from these subpoenas. They also obtained 25 search warrants during the same period and have fully retorted to only 30 among these.
In the comparison of Reddit obtained just 55 requests for information in the year 2014 while Facebook obtained 35,051 grants in just 2nd half of the same year.
