Researchers Create Smartphone 3D Printer in Taiwan
Developed by a research team of graduate students and an assistant Jeng Ywam-Jeng, the 3D Printer comes with a photopolymer which utilizes light coming from a smartphone. A coated vat of resin is placed over the smartphone and the light emitted from the device cures resin over the metal print-bed. By curing each layer, the z-axis lifts up until the completion of print. Resin is the key to this technology which is well introduced by the Tech team. It can be hardened with a different light, except a laser or UV rays.
The team of researchers is working to deal with the problems related to printing and they are adhering to print vat which is seen as a disposable component. A computer is used to control the motor. This time, only one app is used to sync the screen through the motor. It has its printing software and it works as a Bluetooth device.
