The tech giant, Google unveils a new version of Android, which was previously known as M but now it will be called Android Marshmallow. Google has previously launched its OS with the sweet treats as KitKat, Jelly Bean, and Lollipop. However, there has been many assumptions about what the latest release that previously known as ‘Android M’ would be called.

Jamal Eason, Android product manager wrote on Android Developers Blog, “Whether you like them straight out of the bag, roasted to a golden brown exterior with a molten center, or in fluff form, who doesn’t like marshmallows? We definitely like them!”

The proclamation corresponds with the release about the final developer preview update for Android Marshmallow that comprises the official Android 6.0 software development kit. Developers, seeking to update their apps for Android Marshmallow can now publish the apps on the Google Play store.

Marshmallow also makes permissions model more efficient to upgrade and install the apps by the users. Users running firm apps will have no need to take any permission while installing and upgrading the apps.

The new OS, which was first revealed by the Google I/O on 28 May 2015, is expected to release it in the quarter of 2015 to the public.

Google declares that it is one of most powerful Android ever released. The updates include so many improvements, but some of them are cumulative so that they will be approximately invisible to the users.

Android Marshmallow can also support a new type of USB i.e. USB-C. For this feature, Google states that it can charge the device 3 to 5 times faster than the normal microUSB chargers.

The Android Marshmallow’s developer preview is already available on the Google Nexus 5 and 6 handsets, Nexus 9 tablet, and Nexus Player.

It is also available on a range of Sony devices, which includes the Xperia Z3, Xperia Z3 Compact, Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact, Xperia Z2 Tablet, Xperia Z1, Xperia Z1 Compact, Xperia Z Ultra, Xperia E3, Xperia M2, Xperia T2 Ultra and the Xperia T3. However, Google has not yet confirmed that which devices will be updated first.
